It was so nice to hear from you. How wonderful that you get together with all of your cousins each year. We are quite a small family of Swedes here so we just get together with our immediate families and once in a while we see some relatives in Minnesota. My husband and I live in Pomona, California where we are both retired now. I was a school teacher and Principal of schools for many years and now stay active in the community by serving of the Board of Trustees of a local college and also on the Board of the local hospital. I am also a member of the Rotary Club of Pomona and recently my husband Chuck and I went to Australia for the International Rotary Convention. (Any Rotarians among the cousins?) My husband Chuck served as Mayor of Pomona and then in the California State Legislature for 8 years. He is a retired businessman and lobbyist. We have two sons Ronald and Stephen who have three children and 2 children. Life is good. Though I don't have any information about Ivar and don't recall meeting him, I am attaching some information which may be interesting to you. I believe it was compiled by Dr. Thorston Smith (son of Axel) and shows parts of our "family tree". It looks as though we are decendants of Gustav Myrstrom also and my father (also Roger) would be a first cousin of your mother Svea so that would make us 2nd cousins! Perhaps you could write and let me know something about you and your family. Chuck and I travelled to Sweden several years ago and I was in search of relatives on my mother's side of the family. The museum at Vaxjo was very helpful. At that time I did not know where your side of the family lived and even if we had any relatives still in Sweden. We enjoyed our trip very much and spent most of the time in Smaland, some time in Stockholm and then to Norway. Sincerely and with all good wishes to you and your family, Rosanne Bader On Aug 3, 2014, at 10:23 PM, Rick Mystrom wrote: Hi Rosanne, I'm forwarding an email from Roger MYRSTRÖM, who is somehow related to us. It's very interesting that his first name is Roger. I don't know how dad got that name. He is asking about Ivar and about our family tree. I'm forwarding this to you since you are our family historian. Could you respond to his questions? Rick Roger, This is to Rosanne Bader, my sister, and daughter of Roger Mystrom and Rosella Elmer Mystrom and granddaughter of Richard Mystrom who changed his name from Myrstrom to Mystrom sometime after Arriving in America I believe. His name on his birth certificate is Myrstrom. I understand that you are a busy man. You are often at the FB. And writing books about your life and so on. I think your life are intresting meting all this diferent people. I,m over 65 and taking it slowly, day by day. I Think you missed the enclosed file or ? However here it is again. Hello Rick Mystrom! I hope you are alright and feel god. Now I'm taken time to write to you. And "me" are Roger Myrström in Sweden. I have some problem with spelling in English but I find out that there was a spelling help on the computer. So now I hope that you can read this. We here in Sweden are going to have a cousin meeting again. We try to have one every year. And we started with the oldest and then the younger after following each year. We have going around this circle some times now. And we are doing the same with the other side of my parents grandchildren. So we have two meetings every year. This year the cousines on my mothers side shall meet hear at our place. My mothers name as married was Svea Johansson. Her girl name was Myrström. She had six siblings and one of them was Karl Ivar Myrström. And he went to America as you know. What I have heard was he working as a painter. One generation earlier I think that there was some more who went over to America. But it is more complicated because there were some half sisters and half brothers. If you want more information about them I can write to you later after doing some research. You wrote me that you had some information about Ivar and the relatives in America. It would be really nice if you could give me some information which I could bring to my cousins when we meet this year. And it would be interesting to know in what line of the family tree you are. Your sincerely Roger Myrström | |
